Rebex .NET Components

Welcome to our official feedback forum. Do you have an idea? Do you recognize a good idea when you see one? We want to hear from you!

I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

  1. Add auto font scaling on when resizing a telnet window

    It would be nice to have fonts auto-scale when a user is re-sizing a telnet window (width, depth or both)

    From version 2016 R3 you can handle these objects using plain XML, that is basically raw SOAP request. More high-level API is still planned in the future.

  5. Add a "try load" static method to SshPrivateKey

    This would permit verification of a keyfile without having to go through the somewhat expensive try/catch setup. Specifically, I'd like to use this for a WPF ValidationRule but exceptions are visibly slow to the user.
    See also int's TryParse(), etc.

  6. Asynchronous Detection of New Email via IMAP

    A new event should be added to imap client such that the event occurs when there is a new email arrives, so that the program can immediately download or handle new emails.

  7. Add connect commands to shell

    SSH on *nix systems allow to specify a command to execute upon connection (with the -c "<command>" parameter)
    It's like the StartCommand method but with interactive support.

    It will allow users to specify an alternate shell than the one set for his account (bash, ksh, csh, ...) or a script to launch which is interactive (menu).
    When the shell or the script exits, connection is closed.

    It's available in PuTTY: Connection/SSH/Remote command in configuration
    It's also available in SecureCRT: Connection/Logon Actions/Remote Command in session's options

  9. FileSystemProvider: add option to handle file move with a dedicated method instead of GetContent/SaveContent

    We use the FileServer library to provide an SFTP layer on top of our cloud storage solution. In our use case we need to log every action that users perform on files and folders.
    The problem with current implementation is that a file move is treated - and thus logged - as a download followed by an upload.
    It would be nice to have a dedicated method for file/folder move instead.

  11. IMAP Search with Free Form Text

    The Rebex Imap client supports searching with programatically specified collection of objects. It would be nice if the client can also support search with free form text. I don't think this should be too hard and will require only little refactoring. For example:

    var messages = imap.Search(ImapListFields.Envelope, "OR SUBJECT Support SUBJECT Question");
    var messages = imap.Search(ImapListFields.Envelope, "HEADER DomainKey-Signature google.com");
    var messages = imap.Search(ImapListFields.Envelope, "SMALLER 42000");
    var messages = imap.Search(ImapListFields.Envelope, "TEXT \"Mail Component\"");

  12. Ability to add/download custom file attributes in SFTP

    AT the moment you can't add special attributes like the file movement status ie Uploaded, downloaded, ready to download etc.
    If you wish to do this you have use a custom command(which is better than nothing)

    SFTP protocol supports custom file attributes, and this looks like a useful feature. However, in order to use this, support at both the server and the client would be needed.

  15. Provide DateTimeOffset values for modified/etc in SFTP for .NET 3.5 and higher

    See http://blogs.msdn.com/bclteam/archive/2007/06/18/a-brief-history-of-datetime-anthony-moore.aspx
    The SFTP library's modifed/etc times are currently local to the server timezone, but there's no easy way to figure out what the offset is. Adding a TimeZoneOffset property to the Sftp class itself would help, but this type (new with .NET 3.5) would make it very easy to interact with the differences in timezone, something very common when dealing with remote servers.
    I don't know if FTP supports retrieving the timezone, but if so, supporting that too seems obvious.

  17. Support of IDN (Internationalized Domain Names) for Pop3 and Imap.

    Now IDN (Internationalized Domain Names) are not supported in e-mail addresses. E.g. we get exception with error "Invalid address (501)" in Secure Mail .Net

  20. xts-aes sample for Database Connectors

    xts-aes sample for Databases
    show an exsample how to combine the Rebex Security with a Database (Embedded: Firebird / VistaDB / SQLite) to seamless crypt the data.

    An excample how to combine Rebex Security with ORM Tool (LLBLGen or Telerik Open Access) to crypt seamless some Table-fields within supported Databases.

    An performance measurement, for these crypted data:
    - Seek (1000 columns)
    - update (1000 columns of decrypt, change and encrypt)
    - encrypt data (1000 columns)
    Compare it with other (e.g. Native DB Encryption, Encrypted FS, without encryption)
